Google Analytics 4 (GA4) will be required in order to continue receiving data to your properties to measure important metrics from your website, app and/or e-commerce engine. Everyone using Universal Analytics is required to upgrade to Google Analytics 4 to continue using this analytics service.

  • Better visuals. Simplified Language. Useful queries.
  • Google Analytics 4.0 operates across platforms, does not rely exclusively on cookies and uses an event-based data model to deliver user-centric measurement.

Why is this happening?

Universal Analytics, also known as GA3, was built for a generation of online measurement that accommodated desktop-web use. But, in today’s mobile-first world, it no longer meets the needs, we as marketers, need it to.

How much time do I have?

Effective July 1, 2023, standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new hits. You can continue to use and collect new data in your UA properties until that date, however you will only able to access previously processed data for up to 6 months following. It is best to utilize both UA & GA4 parallel to each other as soon as possible.

Why Upgrade now?

Waiting to upgrade can cause gaps in data because GA4 will only record data from the time its installed & moving forward.
